Takahiro Omori is drifting past a red and white concrete marker in a very swift current. Seigo Saito tells me that Omori is drop shot fishing with a flipping rod.
Omori tells us that tendinitis in his right elbow makes it painful to fight these strong smallmouth bass with spinning tackle. He can hold the baitcasting rod in his left hand.
Omori moves closer to the marker and hooks a bass as he drifts past it. He takes his time battling the fish. He sweeps it over the side of the boat and holds it up for Seigo to photograph. It's a decent bass. Maybe 3 1/2 pounds.
That makes bass number three for him. The fishing appears to be tougher today. I thought the bass would bite better with the overcast conditions. Shows what I know.
