After running and gunning around the lake with Ike for most of the morning, then going on a fruitless hunt for Dave Lefebre, we’ve settled in on Kevin VanDam.
After not seeing a whiff of a fish bite, it doesn’t take long before KVD hooks up. As a matter of fact in the last 15 minutes we’ve seen him bookend his fourth keeper with two catfish. Then follow that up with a chunky 15 7/8ths largemouth he had to throw back.
That keeper moved him into the top 10. While it goes without saying KVD is always a threat at the Classic, he’s just one big fish from hurting the feelings of several folks.
He’s yet to boat one of those in this event. And you have to believe one is coming. More than one and KVD is breathing on fifth Classic.
That’s all just fancy thinking at the moment. But when you haven’t seen any fish catching for most of the day you start thinking that way.
