Day Four on the Alabama River is underway

Day Four on the beautiful Alabama River system begins for us with another launch at Gold Star Park in Wetumpka, a nice town just outside of Montgomery.

The pros launched at 6:30 a.m. from the Riverfront Park today, instead of Cooter's Pond in Prattville. That means they'll be to us earlier, because the change in venue will shave 10 minutes or so on the ride time to the Bouldin Dam Canal, where photographer Darren Jacobson, boat driver Matt Chambliss and I are right now. We're waiting, in particular, on Edwin Evers -- the current Toyota Angler of the Year points leader who also is in second place in this tournament. Evers' bite has come early in this canal, and that's why we wanted to be here to catch all the action.

A couple observations. The water has continued to fall. It appears to be about 2 or 3 feet lower than yesterday, which if you've been following these blogs, means that the bite has been a bit more trying for the anglers. There's also very little current pushing through this canal. That can be a factor, too.

We'll wait for Edwin and report back as soon as he arrives, which shouldn't be more than another 10 minutes or so.
