Will there be a surprise tactic?

The early indications about how this tournament will be won center around targeting relatively shallow water, 15 feet and less, with lures like crankbaits, spinnerbaits and jigs. That picture will become clearer for the anglers today, but it’s that time of year when everything can change from one day to the next. Combined with all the rapidly moving, relatively dirty and cold water in the Tennessee River now, the unexpected could produce the winner on Sunday.

“This is one of those tournaments that, under these conditions, a guy could figure out that little special, nobody-had-a-clue deal and just blow everybody out,” said Cliff Pace yesterday. “Where, when it’s all said and done, everybody says, ‘I’d never figured it could have been won that way.'”
