What a difference a Full day makes

Carl Jocumsen, who placed third on Day 1 with 18 pounds, 2 ounces boated his first keeper around 8:30. He ran south of Lake George, but today’s tempo will be significantly more relaxed than yesterday, which was painfully shortened by a 3-hour fog delay.

Tournament days are inherently stressful, as competitors are constantly aware of the ticking clock. But with a full day gloriously contrasting yesterday’s abbreviated session, Jocumsen and his 98 competitors will have significantly more time for running and fishing.

That equation clearly challenged several on Day 1.

Jocumsen said today’s full schedule will allow him to exercise the patience necessary to pick apart cover and make the thorough presentations needed to tempt spawning fish. He’s pitching and skipping a Texas-rigged worm around docks and shallow cover.

It will be interesting to see how a full day of fishing influences decisions and outcomes across the field.
