Vote for Jones!

I wound up ninth place in Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year points, and only the Top 8 are automatically entered into All-Star Week. However, I’m not sunk yet.

Well, I gotta say that I had a very disappointing end to the 2011 Bassmaster Elite Series season. I think the thing that was the most disappointing for me was not qualifying for Toyota Trucks All-Star Week. In case you didn’t know, I wound up ninth place in Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year points, and only the Top 8 are automatically entered into All-Star Week. However, I’m not sunk yet.

I can still get voted in by you, my fans. Now it’s not up to me to go to All-Star Week, it’s up to you to get me there, and I humbly ask each and every one of you for your vote. It’s right here on vote.bassmaster.com, and you can vote once a day from now until July 10. I encourage you to vote for your favorite angler, and I hope it’s me. I’m going to sit back, relax and hope that I’ll be in All-Star Week.

On another note, since we’re home for a bit now, I’ve got a few things to catch up on. For example, I’ve got a sink faucet that’s been leaking for, oh, six months. There’s a bunch of yard work to be done, too. All of these chores will be a good way to get my mind off of my dismal finish to the season. Though yard work is a great distraction (yeah, right…), I’ve got an even better one planned: Falcon Lake. I’ll have another trip planned here in a week or so.

But it is really good to get home for awhile. One of the best things about being home is seeing Little Alton again. Being in college now, he doesn’t get to travel with us on tour. When we’re gone, we’re flat gone, and it’s good to be at home with him. Hopefully he’ll be able to accompany me on the Falcon trip.

I’m having a hard time planning other offseason activities because I haven’t been really sure about how the month of July is going to go. Hopefully I’ll get to go to All Star Week. Beyond that, my first order of business is to recuperate physically. The Elite season is grueling. Folks may not think that it’s tough, but there are endless hours in the hot sun and it takes a toll pretty quickly. Plus, there’s no mental downtime. Fishing consumes more hours of the day than any other sport that I know of.

I’ll try to get things finalized for the offseason as far as activities I’ll be involved in, so I’ll keep you all up to date.

Thanks in advance for the vote!
