Uncertainty is the dominant feeling

The weather forecast today shows scattered thunderstorms developing late this afternoon with a high of 79 degrees and southwest winds at 10 to 15 miles per hour. As takeoff approaches, it’s 72 degrees with a light southwest breeze.

What’s more uncertain than a spring weather forecast is the Elite Series anglers’ forecast on how this tournament will play out. Typical was this reaction after the three days of practice this week: “I don’t have a clue,” said Steve Kennedy, “but it’s Kentucky Lake. Somebody is going to catch ’em.”

I’ve been covering Elite Series tournaments since the circuit began in 2006. I can’t recall a tournament where more uncertainty was expressed after practice, especially on a top-rated fishery like Kentucky Lake. So this event is going to be particularly interesting. As Kennedy said, “Somebody is going to catch ’em.” We’ll soon begin to see who that somebody will be.
