Wheeler breaks the ice

Jacob Wheeler started the final day in 2nd place just 1-6 behind Wil Hardy. His co-angler Ronald Flamisch boated the first keeper between the duo and then Wheeler joined the party and landed his first. He started the day with a 2 to 2 1/2-pounder. It didn't take long to boat his second and third keepers. In fact, he hooked up on back-to-back casts.

His third was the biggest of the morning, but if he wants to win today then it may need to be his smallest at the end of the day.

Flamisch now has two keepers and needs one more to fill his limit. He started 6th, just 1-4 behind.

Fast, furious for Ike and Hardy

Here's what you get when fishing pressure on offshore spots goes away during a Top 12 finals day.

We opted to go straight to the action and follow Michael Iaconelli (12th place) and Will Hardy (the leader).

Within the first 30 minutes of fishing Iaconelli caught a limit. The action has been nonstop since the start as both pros and co-anglers are catching one bass after another.

On Carolina rigs. Yes, that's an accurate report from photographer James Overstreet. More to come.

And they're off!

Top 12 are off for the final day on Oneida Lake. Wil Hardy leads them out as Jacob Wheeler and the other 10 anglers look to chase him down for the win and a Bassmaster Classic berth.

Top 12 ready

Takeoff is set for 5:30 a.m. as the Top 12 are ready for the final day of the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Northern Open on Oneida Lake

Rough is the word

Just as Craig Lamb predicted earlier this morning, it got REALLY nasty out on the deep shoals when that storm blew through!

Two for Yasinski

Derek Yasinski just caught his 2nd keeper of the day although it was just a small one. After chatting with Day 1 leader Randy Elliott he decided to head out and go to another area.

He pulled up the trolling motor and headed farther east through the growing waves. At this point the entire front deck of our boat is soaked already and the wind is getting stronger.

For the moment we did not follow Yasinski and instead are looking for some other contenders.
