"There'll be plenty of time for sleep when it's over"

Jerry Cunningham and I will start on Bradley Roy this morning. The 26-year-old Elite Series pro sits in second place, trailing leader Brent Ehrler by about a pound. Roy was one of the first anglers to the dock this morning, looking relaxed for a first-time Classic qualifier who's sitting in second place after Day 1. We caught up with him before takeoff this morning and asked him how he slept last night.

"I slept fine, he said, "but I didn't sleep as late as I wanted to."

Roy said that after the weigh-in, media interviews, the mandatory news conference for leaders and a late dinner, he didn't get in bed until nearly 11 pm. His alarm sounded at 3:30 this morning.

"But that's just the way it is," he said. "It's the Classic. There'll be plenty of time for sleep when it's over."
