There was a quartet of good omens, if not a ton of fish catches in the first hour on Santee Cooper. The good omens came in the form of hefty bass, led by a 6-4 caught by Brandon Card. Kyle Welcher and Carl Jocumsen caught 5-pounders and Jesse Tacoronte added a 4-pounder.
The fishing will pick up as the sun gets higher on this nearly cloudless morning. The 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. window was particularly productive on Lake Guntersville last week.
