New Hampshire B.A.S.S. Nation held its 4th annual team open fundraiser to support the Folds of Honor Foundation on May 6 at Lake Winnipesaukee with launching out of West Alton Marina. The STA-BIL Start Boat sent off the record 60 teams out on the water after making sure everyone’s safety equipment including livewells were functioning properly. This event has grown in popularity with many veterans in attendance to support a great cause. This one event raised $2340 to support the Folds of Honor Foundation.
The anglers were greeted with mostly sunny conditions with light wind. There were some nice bags of fish weighed but none better than from the team of Travis Salo and Garret Seppela with a total weight of 24.81 for eight fish anchored by a beautiful 5.50 pound largemouth. Their plan was to fish as many spots as possible throughout the day focusing on shallow water docks with senkos and jigs. This produced a limit of about 15 pounds by 10am at which time they shifted gears to focus on smallmouth in 30 feet of water. They fished spider jigs and drop shots to cull up to around 20 pounds. They made another change early afternoon to fish for largemouth again in 5-15 feet of water in the cabbage. They ran about 15 spots all day and managed to upgrade a fish at each stop.
The Dobyns Rods lunker largemouth award went to the big fish specialist team of Gary Graser and Justin Wooddell with a giant 6.32 pounder. The Maui Jim lunker smallmouth award went to the father and son team of Jim and Travis Rockett with a nice 3.44 pounder. Full results can be found here on our Facebook page.
