Lowen got dialed-in yesterday

Bill Lowen might have been the most confident angler who walked across the weigh-in stage yesterday, after he moved up from 19th place (12-6) to 6th place (15-13). Over two days, he'd found a place he had all to himself, but he hadn't spent all day there on Thursday or Friday.

"I've got a little turn with some milfoil on it, and nobody else has been on it for two days," Lowen said. "There's guys in the area, but they're going past me. I may just go in there (Saturday), fish through every tide and see what I can come up with."

Lowen got to this spot at 10 o'clock on Day 1 and 11:00 on Day 2. It appears Lowen's confidence was based in reality. He's the first man with a limit this morning – weighing almost 13 pounds and putting him at the top of the leaderboard.

"I'm just alternating between some flipping baits and some reaction baits – spinnerbaits, Chatterbaits, stuff like that," he said. "Today I felt like maybe I figured out what was going on. I went to this area in practice at low tide and had three bites – a 5, a 4 and a 3. I haven't been back there on low tide yet. But the last two days I caught 'em in there on high tide. I'm just excited I can catch them on low tide and high tide. That's a big plus."
