Lowen with a crowd

We’ve beat Bill Lowen to his first spot of the day and can see him coming into the creek where he’s done most of his damage this week.

His first concern is about 6 or 8 spectator boats behind him. This is a real small area and very sensitive. That many boats could have a big impact on it. It only takes one boat to muddy it up.

As Lowen idled by us he looked back at them and then to us and said, “this is going to be bad.”

That remains to be seen. But we are seeing him change his tactics already. Some of the cover he was fishing on his way out of the creek, he’s decided to hit early, uncertain if the extra boats will muddy it up.

This is the creek where he has what he calls his “magic tree.”

He caught most of his weight on the first two days there and started with a 4-pound plus there yesterday.

Because of the crowd, it will be a while before he gets there. On a normal day, he might fish to it quickly. Then come back.

Not today.
