Local tournament, berths on the line

There looks to be a relatively large local tournament going on, approximately 30-40 boats. That can mean two things for Championship Saturday of the Academy Sports +Outdoors B.A.S.S. Nation National Championship presented by Magellan leader, Tray Huddleston:

  1. Pressure on the lower end.
  2. Confidence for an Arkansas angler, that three or four local boats have passed and let him have the spot. The area seems very popular, for the local anglers fishing a $1,500 jackpot tournament.

Huddleston, is still searching for his first bite. Patience, was noted for both Huddleston and second place angler Caleb Sumrall in their first two day’s catch. They are sharing a large area at the moment.

Huddleston, is jerking a tube, trying to trigger reaction strikes from suspended herring fish.

“This is typically for smallmouth, but I guess they like it here,” Huddleston noted.

We will be on the leaders all day, hoping to catch the three anglers that will make it to the GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods in March. The top finisher will receive an invitation to fish in the Bassmaster Elite Series. Keep in mind, this is the way AOY Champion Brandon Palaniuk paved his way to success. As Palaniuk said to the Nation competitors at the Nation dinner presented by Yamaha, “Believe in the process.”
