Lefebre getting clued-in

...and checking in early!

After the first two days of practice this week, if you’d told Dave Lefebre he’d be leading at this point on Day 2 of the tournament, he would have laughed in your face. (Well, he often does that anyway, even when asked serious questions. At least I thought they were serious questions.)

Wednesday’s third practice day is always cut short by the angler’s meeting that precedes each tournament. But Lefebre found some clues that shortened day. And he’s expanded on them since, obviously. BASSTrakk currently indicates he’s leading with 32-4 after catching a 14-pound limit so far today.

“I’m seeing lots of guys run past me, but I’ve got a pattern pretty much to myself,” Lefebre said Thursday. “I can’t really talk about it, because anything I say might hurt me.”

But he did offer this, saying, “I tried to do things that I thought people would overlook. I’m just a little bit out – in the good areas – but just out.

“When we’re fishing, we look at stuff and say, ‘There might be a bass there.’ I was looking at places that didn’t look like there should be a bass there.”
