Taku Ito was seventh going into today, and he’s already at work building a Day 3 limit.
His first fish, a 3-pound smallmouth, was a miracle fish — the line caught on the keel guard of Ito’s boat, and the angler lost contact for a few minutes.
He had to actually scoop the line with his rod to wrangle the bass in.
Moments later he landed a 2-pounder.
And he just put another 3-pounder in the livewell.
So he’s got about 8 1/2 pounds, and plenty of time to round out the limit and cull up.
