Howell with 6-plus pounder

Randy Howell, who started the day in 3rd place, is off to a fast start on Day 2 of the Toyota Texas Fest benefiting the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. He caught a 3-pounder right off the bat, and followed it up with a 6 and a half pounder. Before getting it on the scale Howell estimated the bass was 6 and a half pounds. When it was weighed on the scale the fish was exactly 6 and a half pounds. Clearly Howell has done this before! He then released the big bass in the waters of Sam Rayburn. “Oops, that was a mistake,” he said. “I forgot we get to keep our big fish for the weigh-in.” To which his judge replied, “You’ll get another big one soon.”
