Henries and Cooper headed to National Championship

The Dockside Marine Team Trail’s final event played host to 11 teams. Being the last event of the season, the points champs were to be crowned at the conclusion of the event, building plenty of anticipation between the top two teams, who were separated by a slim margin. Up for grabs was the chance to represent the trail in the Bassmaster Team Championship National Tournament being held December 5th thru 8th on the Harris Chain of Lakes in Florida.

The teams were turned loose one by one at safe light with one more chance this season at besting the field. As they returned for the 3 p.m. weigh-in, the talk kept seemingly shifting back to who was going to be crowned Points Champions for 2018.

As the dust settled from the weigh-in, it was determined that the team of Gary Henries and Toby Cooper would finish out their strong year by sealing the deal as Points Champions! They brought in a 12.81-pound sack to take 4th place in the event, which gave them the overall race by just three points. A big congratulations goes out to these guys for a great year and best of luck representing the trail in one of the largest tournaments in the nation this December!

Third place was held down by Ross and Reese Watkins with a 13.64-pound stringer. Second place went to Corey Wheat and Tony Cooper with 13.85 pounds. And closing down the last Dockside event was the father/son team of Jay and Randy Ladner, who brought in an impressive 16.04-pound sack and the event's largest bass of 4.68 pounds.
