Feider making a big move

Watching BassTrakk, we see Seth Feider making a strong move into this event. According to the estimations in weight from Marshals all over the water, Feider is sitting in second after an extremely strong morning.

His position carries a little extra weight all of the sudden. Feider started this event in 69th place in the AOY Standings. That was a long way from anything. In most discussions he wouldn’t be considered even close to the bubble for making the AOY Championship, which was certainly out of the running for a Classic bid.

Feider, though, has stormed back, if you will pardon the pun. He was in 39th yesterday after the weigh-in, and that moved him up 10 places to 59th in the AOY. All of a sudden, he’s on the outskirts of being on the bubble to make the AOY Championship. While things are expected to change, and probably will, it’s interesting to note that if Feider keeps his position of second place that BassTrakk has him, it would move him to 50th place in the points, and on verge of making next week’s championship.

That’s an extremely big move for a lot of reasons. You can bet Feider is on pins and needles to make the Championship. He’s the only angler from Minnesota on the Elite Series, and likely has more experience on Mille Lacs than any other Elite angler. That experience would give him an inside track to make the Classic, just a week after he was so far back that most couldn’t see him even being a factor.

He’s not made it yet, but all of the sudden the possibility has become very real for Feider.

We often ask our anglers at what point during the season was the most critical for them in either having a winning season or losing one. If Feider hangs on and produces the improbable, then he can certainly point to today’s heroics. Likewise, there could be the angler who finishes just out of the Classic, and if Feider displaces him, can point to that as well.

It will be an interesting next few days – and possibly next week – if Feider continues to turn up the heat.
