Ehrler off to slow start as he tries to get inside Classic cut
As soon as Brent Ehrler arrived on the Bassmaster Elite Series, he said his first goal every season would be to qualify for the GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by GoPro.
He made it easily last year, claiming Rookie of the Year honors. But he entered this week's tournament on Cayuga Lake sitting just outside the Classic bubble in 40th place in the AOY standings.
His best finish so far this year was a 29th-place showing in the season-opener on the St. Johns River. He's failed to make the Top 50 cut three times after missing it only once all of last season.
The California pro has got some ground to make up, and he's off to a slow start today. BASSTrakk has him with only one fish that weighs about 2.5 pounds.
