First place angler Chris Dillow is no stranger to the winner circle, especially here on the James River. If you read yesterday's story or are familiar with last years Northern Open you would know that Dillow punched his ticket to the GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by GoPro on Grand Lake via a victory here in 2015.
On Thursday he brought 18-3 to the scales and bested second place Charlie Hartley by over a pound. He couldn't help but to echo his blessings because of the opportunity he has been given to potentially win in consecutive years on this river system.
Dillow is a patient angler and knows that timing is crucial on this system so waiting for the feeding time at an area will be key. We've already seen him Power Pole down on his spot for 30 mins without moving his boat and slowly fished the area as throughly as possible.
He hasn't hooked up since we arrived, but he may have caught one before we showed up. Once we get closer we will chat, but at the moment we are letting him do his thing.
Punching your ticket to the Classic via an Opens win is hard to do, doing it twice; well that's beyond impressive. We will see if he will do that this week.
