Cook in his comfort zone

Drew Cook settled in—and settled down—early on at Cayuga Lake. BASSTrakk has him in seventh place with 14 pounds, 10 ounces.

“The first hour here is really crucial,” he said. “Hopefully I can get up around that 20-pound mark later in the day when the quality bite happens.”

That statement is in stark contrast to Cook’s practice.

“I was ready to jump off the hotel balcony because I only caught two early on in practice,” he said. “My roommate got me onto a deal on the last practice day that really helped me out.”

His roommates are David Mullins and fellow Floridian Drew Benton, who likely clued him in on the so-called deal. On LIVE I watched Cook cranking the edges of grass lines, which of course, is a technique he learned to do early on in his home state.
