One of the first anglers I've seen on Day 1 of the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Northern Open is former Classic competitor Jonathan Carter of Maine. He has one fish in the box so far while his co-angler Robert Brugiere has two small ones in the livewell.
Carter, who is trying his hand at fishing for a living, decided to stop being a school teacher in hopes of fishing more often and competing in the Opens. He started his year with a 62nd place finish at Oneida Lake in early July. A win in the Opens could get him back in the Classic once again.
