WHAT THE PROS SAY
Mark Tyler (caught the biggest bass in BASS tournament history from the Delta in 1999 — 14 lbs. 9 oz.): "It's great to see the Elite Series schedule go out West and become more of a national thing. It's hard to predict what it might take to win on the Delta, but I think it'll be about 100 pounds or so. It's a tremendous fishery and seems to be getting stronger and stronger every year. One thing's for sure, we're hitting it at a prime time, and the sky's the limit. In the pre-spawn, there's a strong jig, spinnerbait and Rat-L-Trap bite on the Delta. I caught the 14-9 on a jig, and you can bet that will be my primary weapon when we go there next year."
WHAT THE PROS SAY
Byron Velvick (set the BASS 3-day tournament record with 83-5 on Clear Lake in 2000): "The quality of fish out there should be astounding! I'm looking forward to seeing guys like Kevin VanDam and Denny Brauer throwing swimbaits the size of their shoes! At that time of year, we talk about the "Three S's" on Clear Lake — swimbaits, Senkos and sight fishing. It'll take at least 100 pounds to win and maybe quite a bit more. Clear Lake is a big bass factory that just seems to turn out giant bass after giant bass. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 4-day record broken."
