20 Questions with Brandon Palaniuk

Feb 19, 2012

Brandon Palaniuk is fishing his second Bassmaster Classic in 2012, and he's fishing it on the same waters where he won the 2010 B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Championship. He's hoping to improve on his fourth place finish at last year's Classic.

Seven for Kevin

Kevin VanDam wrapped up his seventh Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year title Saturday.

Points Leaders

1st Place

Kevin VanDamKevin VanDam

VanDam closed out his fourth consecutive and seventh overall AOY title, making ground on the record of Roland Martin's nine. But Martin never won as many in a row.

2nd Place

Edwin EversEdwin Evers

Evers kept the pressure on until the end, but finished second for the second year running. He started Wheeler just 55 points behind VanDam, but ended 153 out of his ultimate goal.

3th Place

Gerald SwindleGerald Swindle

Possibly relaxed from his Opens victory and Classic qualification, Swindle has fished well all year, and should be happy to be home in Alabama for Toyota Trucks All-Star Week.

4th Place

Ott DeFoe

Elite rookie Ott DeFoe showed he's the real deal, having turned in the best debut performance since Steve Kennedy in 2006. He took fourth in points, only five clicks behind Swindle.

5th Place

Steve KennedySteve Kennedy

Kennedy had a shot at Wheeler, although he would have needed a miracle to overcome both KVD and Evers to capture his first AOY title.

6th Place

Terry ScrogginsTerry Scroggins

Scroggins once led the race but fell at the Arkansas River, but he did enough in the last event to keep his position in the top eight and advance to All-Star Week.

7th Place

cashleyCasey Ashley

A banner year has Ashley singing the tune of All-Star Week. He was on the bubble for the top eight but climbed a spot with a 25th at Wheeler.

8th Place

Davy HiteDavy Hite

He slipped with a 35th in the Dixie Duel but maintained his spot in Montgomery, holding off the likes of Aaron Martens, Greg Vinson and Fred Roumbanis.
