It’s Sunday. We’re on our way to Palatka from the airport in Orlando to get ready to prefish the St. Johns River.
After a year of major highs (my 2011 Bassmaster Classic win followed by another Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of Year title), reality has set in. We’re starting a new season and it’s time to get back to work.

The 2012 Bassmaster Elite Series season kicks off with back-to-back events in Florida. The season opener will be held at St. Johns River; then anglers will turn their sights to nearby Lake Okeechobee.
It is getting serious now. I have a lot to do before the season kicks off as it is only 1 1/2 weeks away.

Most of last week was spent with my dad on the St. Johns River. I wish I could say we caught a ton of big ones but the truth is we spent more time fishing than we did catching. Nevertheless, it was one of my best weeks ever.
