See the best of the best in new gear and products from ICAST 2014.
One of the trends that's clearly sweeping the industry actually began many years ago, but it's got a full head of steam now. I'm talking about the need for speed -- not with outboard motors, but with fishing reels. It dates me, but when I bought my first casting reel at the age of 14 in 1976, a high gear ratio meant 5:1 ... and you needed a special after-market kit (from Gator Grip, I think) to get that! My first casting reel was an Ambassadeaur 5000D. It was (is) green, and the "D" stood (stands) for direct drive.
One thing I wanted to do at ICAST this year is profile some of the behind-the-scenes heroes. The folks who really make it happen, but perhaps don’t get star billing. Andrew Marks fits that description.
See how the high school anglers did on Day 1 of the Bassmaster High School Championship on Kentucky Lake.
With nothing to lose at the halfway point of Day 1, Dailus Richardson and Trevor McKinney changed up their game plan and altered their strategy.
Russ Lane shows off a bait he's been using with great success at recent top finishes in tournaments.
