Every so often in this business you meet a guy who’s special, pretty cool is how I say it. Mark Zacher’s one of those guys. He’s from South Dakota and he won the “Fish with Ike” Sweepstakes back in April. We did our day on the water last Monday on the Mississippi right after our Elite Series tournament. I knew right away that he was a serious bass angler. He looked and talked the part. I call guys like him Fish-Heads. Now, that’s in no way a derogatory term, and it has nothing to do with his appearance. He looks just fine.

The Mississippi River was a decent event for me. I can’t say it was great. My goal is never to finish 35th. Still, I’m upbeat. I think I made good decisions and fished about as clean as anyone can reasonably hope to do.

Randy Howell presented himself with the sweetest Father’s Day gift of all, albeit a day early.
I left southern Ohio for the James River the week before the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Open is slated to happen there.
Tackle organization is something I take very seriously and so should you. I put a great deal of emphasis on being efficient when I’m on the water, and keeping my lures and terminal gear well organized is a huge part of that. I want to know where everything is and systematically positioned so I spend very little time looking for a lure or item and getting my bait back into the water.
