As another season comes to a close, I find myself experiencing mixed emotions. On the one hand, I’m disappointed. No one wants to finish the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year race in 90th place.
At the start of the 2012 Bassmaster Elite Series, I, like all the other 99 anglers, set a goal of making the Bassmaster Classic. I figured that if I could do that the Rookie of the Year title would be a good possibility, too.

I want to say congratulations to everyone. Boyd Duckett, the winner on Oneida, the 2013 Bassmaster Classic qualifiers and the 2012 Bassmaster Elite Series Rookie of the year, Brandon Card, all did one heck of a job this year. But, in truth, this week is all about Brent Chapman, the 2012 Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year.
The math worked in my favor. I claimed the last Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year slot for next year’s Bassmaster Classic. That’s a lot of weight off my shoulders.
