Kazunori Okuma says he wasn't expecting this bonus, adding a big "Thank you!" to Allstate, for their "Good Hands, Great Day" award, given to the angler who makes the largest one-day jump up the leaderboard. Okuma's 16-5 limit on Day 2 rocketed him from 121st place to 26th place.
Go on the water with Russ Lane as he tries to move into first place on the final day of the 2015 Bass Pro Shops Southern Open #2 presented by Allstate.
Head out on the water with Day 2 leader Dustin Connell as he tries to cap off a wire-to-wire victory on the Alabama River in the Bass Pro Shops Southern Open presented by Allstate.
Here are some nice on-the-water shots of Dustin Connell from Day 3 on the Alabama River. A full photo gallery will be up soon.
Just got another text from Overstreet. Russ Lane now has a limit for about 11 pounds. I also stumbled onto JP Prouty. He has a solid bag worth 14 to 15 pounds but knows he needs two big culls to stand a chance.
No. 5 for Connell wasn't a big one, but it was a pound in the right direction if he's to win here this week. This fish put his limit around 15 to 16 pounds. Add that to his 2-pound, 10-ounce lead and everybody in the Top 12 has to catch their largest stringer of the week to knock Connell off.
Just got a text from B.A.S.S. photographer James Overstreet who is with Russ Lane: "4 fish about 7 pounds." Haven't had time to talk to Lane much this week, but with the pressure Dustin Connell is putting on him this morning, something's going to have to change big time for Lane to overcome the 2-pound, 10-ounce deficit he started the day with.
You can watch the video blog posted earlier this morning by Shaye Baker. His post also declares the leader to have three bass. The update is that McConnell now has four fish weighing around 14 pounds.
