Lake Wheeler is behaving in typical "dog days of summer" fashion - when the farmers are on the porch drinking lemonade waiting on a few cool nights, things are darn tough on Wheeler. This is a good reservoir, but we're here at a really tough time of year. Very little wind, high humidity, and no current being pulled. Water temp is 85.
Edgar and Will Alewine are fishing as a father-son team today on Wheeler. They're working docks and doing "ok" so far.
Darold Gleason and Kevin Jeane with a small limit to start the day, looking for upgrades now.
Will Eller and Ron Welch have two in the boat. The pair are plying docks. "There's a lot of fish here, but they're just not that big," said Eller.
Darold Gleason and Kevin Jeane have two small ones in the boat. "Kevin's doing all the catching," said Gleason. "I'm just driving the boat!" And he was right. As soon as it came out of his mouth, Jeane pulled another one in.
Trevor Howard and Marty Ballard of University of Kentucky haven't caught anything yet. They're plugging away at the bluff wall.
Janie Chase and Jill Vanlandingham are catching "shorties and toothy critters."
John Thornton and Donnie Davis are hoping for some good luck. "It could be better," said Davis. "I just don't think they're here." They'll be moving soon.
