If the 2013 Bassmaster Classic wasn’t the best Classic ever, it ranked right up there with the best of them.
Here we go – my 23rd Bassmaster Classic - and what a special one it’s going to be.
It’s Bassmaster Classic time and I’m ready. I’ve spent the last month preparing diligently, working on my equipment and tackle and thinking about Grand Lake.
I just returned from Charlotte where Bill Dance, NASCAR driver Tony Stewart and I finished filming more of those humorous Bass Pro Shops commercials that will air nationwide later this year.
You have to be a good businessman with a long-term plan; never get ahead of yourself and put your family or career in jeopardy by doing too much too quickly.
One of the most popular questions I get asked is, “How can I become a bass pro?” There’s not a simple answer nor do I believe my way the only way, but I have advice on how to make that happen.
“I never could get the hang of how to use a baitcaster,” one man said. “How do you make it look so easy?”
I’m no different than most of you when it comes to outdoors shows. I love attending, although I’m usually there to give seminars or make public appearances. Admittedly, the travel becomes a headache, but I always get excited when I’m on the show floor.
