The 4-time Bassmaster Classic champion is back on Conroe competing this morning, despite his back.
If the 2013 Bassmaster Classic wasn’t the best Classic ever, it ranked right up there with the best of them.
Here we go – my 23rd Bassmaster Classic - and what a special one it’s going to be.
Several Bassmaster Classic qualifiers are headed to Grand Lake this week before the off-limits period, but I decided to stay home. Practicing works for a lot of guys, especially those who have never been there. I tend to shy away from visiting these lakes too far ahead of the tournament. I’ve fished Grand many times, so I know it pretty well. But it makes sense for guys like my nephew, Jonathon, who has never seen the lake and will benefit from getting a look at what’s there.
I’ve spent the last few days at the tackle trade show in Orlando talking to buyers and media from around the world about my sponsors’ new products for 2013. One item that’s getting a lot of attention is the Strike King Dream Shot, a 4-inch soft plastic drop-shot that my nephew Jonathon used to win the Green Bay Challenge two weeks ago. Strike King is one of the few lure companies that puts prototype lures in the hands of their pro staff for testing before releasing them to the public.
