Bassmaster Elite Series pro Gerald Swindle, who graced the cover of the July/August issue of Bassmaster Magazine, posed with Laurie Tisdale, Bassmaster assistant art director, in front of a poster of the most recent issue, in B.A.S.S.'s booth at ICAST today. Tisdale led the redesign effort of the magazine, which debuted in this issue, and took the cover photo of the popular pro.

Pure Fishing, the conglomerate that grew out of Berkley and Co., celebrated its 75th birthday today with a media luncheon and video interview with the founder, Berkley Bedell of Spirit Lake, Iowa. Bedell, 91, is suffering from a back injury and was unable to attend. He talked about catching his first fish on a cane pole at 5 years old, an experience he recalls vividly today and spawned his passion for fishing. In 1937, when he was 15 years old, Bedell got his parents’ permission to use the money he made by delivering newspapers to start a fly-tying business in his home.
