Kevin Hawk just pulled in a huge 4-pounder. He says we're going to stay for awhile.
Edwin's up to 4 keepers now. No giants but all solid 2-2.5 lbers. Looking for a kicker to fill the limit.
Palaniuk followed with another big smallmouth bass, probably another 4-pounder. From what we've seen so far, that might make him the leader, or darn near close to it. Andy Montgomery just motored through this area, right outside the launch's no-wake zone. Paul Elias is set up on the other side of the river. We're gonna ease up and see what he has.
The nice guys on one of the spectator boats just told us that Palaniuk boated a 4-pounder right before we arrived. Palaniuk concurred. "You just missed it," he called from the shoreline. Bad timing, but the young pro has a limit with a nice toad to anchor it.
Ask, and you shall receive. After not seeing many boaters for the better part of an hour, we've happened upon Brandon Palaniuk. He's fishing near the launch. Brandon is fishing on the western side of the Mississippi. He's throwing a moving bait and has two spectator boats with him. We're going to try to get a bit closer and find out how he's doing today. Stay tuned.
