Shaw Grigsby just put his 3rd keeper in the Livewell. He celebrated loudly even though it only weighed 1.8 pounds. Giving him 6 or 7 pounds of fish. "I only need 25 more pounds!" he hollered at us.
Expect extreme volatility on the Day 2 leaderboard this afternoon. It was predicted by many Elite Series anglers at the Day 1 weigh-in and that seems to be playing out today, as best we can tell. Shaw Grigsby, the Day 1 leader with 30-5, is struggling so far today. And it's not unexpected. "I have no idea," said Grigsby, when asked if he thought his pattern would hold another day. "I don't know if I'll get a bite in that area."
With Grigsby struggling on Day 2, could Hank Cherry's solid 23-3 on Day 1 propel him into the lead? Check out this compilation of Hank's catches from yesterday.
We're close enough to Shaw Grigsby to hear the conversation between Shaw and his Marshal. Shaw is having a tough day, with only two keepers in the Livewell, but he still takes the time to patiently explain to his Marshal how he's fishing and what he's looking for. That's the sign of a true pro and a good guy.

I was just writing a blog about how difficult it is to sit on a leader that seems to be struggling. After hours of watching Grigsby through my view finder on my camera, I set it down to break the monotony of the day and write a blog. I looked up in time to see Grigsby fighting a fish. And he quickly boats a 3-pound class keeper.
