One-rod Rook hanging tough

Mar 21, 2015

Scott Rook has kept it simple while moving near the top of the leaderboard this week. He's using one rod, hoping to catch 10 pounds a day. He caught 10-9 Thursday, 10-13 Friday and BASSTrakk shows him with 9-7 today.   "I'm fishing isolated cover," Rook said. "These fish are spawning. They're on trees. I'm just going from tree to tree to tree."   Rook can't see the spawners because of the lack of water clarity, but if you know where to put a bait, the muddy water can be advantage.

It's mud daubing and doodle socking time

Mar 21, 2015

With all the rain putting the Sabine River on the rise, bass might move even closer to the bank than they've been all week. That would suit Stephen Browning just fine.   "I call it mud-daubing," Browning said. "It's the time of year where they like to get shallow, and that's where I like them."
