I'm following Hank Cherry and I've been trying to get a blog written, but Cherry is catching them so fast I'm having trouble. He's got four in the boat, most on a jerkbait, which is quickly becoming his signature lure. The fish, though, while keepers ar small. All in the 1 1/2 to 2-pound range. He will need more than that to hold off the wolves trying to unseat him from the final four.
Day One leader Cliff Pace and Edwin Evers are starting today in the same spot they started yesterday, near the mouth of the Muskegon River. This is a shallow area, we're showing 7 feet deep. Yesterday Evers caught them here and Pace didn't. Today Pace started catching them as soon as he arrived, he has three in the livewell now. Evers has one.
Some guys jet off and get as far away from launch as possible. This morning John Crews is fishing about 20 feet from the take off spot. John didn't have a great day yesterday. Today he said he's not worried about winning or losing, that it's a personal challenge between him and the fish.
