Memorial Day fun in the sun

May 31, 2011

The AOY race is heating up, but it was great just to spend a relaxing day on the water with family and friends.

Falcon, floods and flying

I'm still after my personal best at Falcon, but I haven't taken my eye off the prize. A bird's eye view of the Arkansas River should help.

I'm still in the AOY race

I may have stumbled with my 88th-place finish at Lake Murray, but I didn't fall. I'm tied for second and plan to give it my very best in the last two events.

I dodged a bullet at West Point; now it's on to Murray!

If you've been reading my column for a while, you know how much want the AOY trophy. Well, so far, so good. I'm still leading with three to go.

West Point will be different

We’re at the midway point of the Elite season, and I’m currently leading the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year race. That essentially puts a target on my back.

A new phone and an old RV

Well, those of you who follow along weekly may recall last week how I waded into Toledo Bend and destroyed my iPhone in the process. I wish all of my phone troubles went away at that point, but it got worse.

I'm very grateful to have caught the fish that I caught last week and to have gotten the 5th place finish that I had at Pickwick and to have retained the lead in the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year race.

Practice makes perfect!

Apr 8, 2011

I'm here on the Harris Chain in Florida today for the first day of practice of the Elite Series season. I've been idling and trolling around quite a bit trying to put the finishing touches on my game plan.

Ready to roll

Apr 5, 2011

At the end of last week, I did a little prefishing on West Point Lake in Georgia. Before then, I had never laid eyes on that lake. So, I did a lot of riding around and a lot of looking as well as a little fishing.
