Elite Series champion Alton Jones may have just dominated in the St. Johns River Showdown but there's something missing this week at Lake Okeechobee.
Today is the day that we (Little Alton and I) leave from Dallas and head to Argentina for our dove hunt.
In this photo gallery, you'll find behind-the-scenes images from Day One of the 2011 Elite Series Battle on the Bayou on Toledo Bend Reservoir, near Many, Louisiana.
I'm here on the Harris Chain in Florida today for the first day of practice of the Elite Series season. I've been idling and trolling around quite a bit trying to put the finishing touches on my game plan.
It felt fantastic to start the season off with a Top 10 finish on the Harris Chain. This is in stark contrast with last season when I went through the whole campaign without making a single final-day cut.
In other news, I just took my boat to get wrapped. I'm getting it done here in Waco, Texas, for a couple of reasons. The most important is that the wrap on a boat is subjected to a pounding that a truck wrap isn't.
Like the title says, there has been quite a bit of snow here in central Texas. I never thought I'd use the phrases "snowed in" and "central Texas" in the same sentence.
As I mentioned in my last posting, Little Alton and I spent some time at Lake Amistad a couple weeks ago to prefish for his Bass Champs tournament there.
Well, I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a happy New Year's celebration, and I wish you all the best for this year. I had a wonderful time with family and friends, and now I'm down at Lake Amistad for a three-fold trip.
