The winds of fall are definitely evident this morning. There's a crisp north breeze producing enough of a chill to make you want to keep your hoodie on. The waterfowl feel it, too. Canada geese are continually pouring into the lake. Some of them are way up high and cupping and fluttering down. It's enough to make some of us think about shooting something, like ducks and geese. Spectators are okay at the moment. Jonathon VanDam tells us he's killed lots of ducks and geese here, mainly from the front deck of his bass rig.
Hank Cherry continues to methodically work a white swimbait, and it paid off with keeper No. 4 — another smallmouth in the 2-pound range. That should put him at about 8 pounds for the day.
Evers made a short move and has quickly put two in the boat. Both on a topwater, neither of any real size. He has about 3 1/2 plus. But at least he's off the snide.
