Walker working the bank

May 12, 2013

David Walker fished in this outcropping for 20 minutes and then slalomed downstream to try his luck on the other side. He's working the bank letting the current take him south.

Chapman makes a move, it pays off

May 12, 2013

Brent Chapman told us he was "going below the bridge" and took off. Well, he ran below the bridge, all right. He stopped near the power lines, about a mile from the Tallapoosa River.

Kennedy, Walker at Jordan Dam

May 12, 2013

Found Steve Kennedy a ways down from the dam. Then, suddenly, David Walker shows up. It's getting interesting at Jordan Dam. I'm headed back to the dam to see what Walker is up to.

Biffle buzzes by

May 12, 2013

No action from Edwin Evers, but Tommy Biffle just zipped through here. He obviously was fishing even a bit farther up the Tallapoosa than Evers.

Kennedy fishing below dam

May 12, 2013

Steve Kennedy is fishing right below the dam. He caught two small fish, and both went right back into the river.

Evers makes a bold move

May 12, 2013

Edwin Evers just threw us a major curveball. He decided to make a 12-mile run up the Tallapoosa River, which is uncharted territory for Darren Jacobson and me. Even our boat driver, Pike Road's very own Matt Chambliss, isn't exactly sure where we are.   We crossed underneath the Highway 231 bridge and settled on a spot about three miles upriver near a big sandbar. There are a couple of sunbathers out, probably wondering what we're doing out here.   Following the Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year points leader, that's all.

In search of Kennedy

May 12, 2013

I drove to the Jordan Dam to see if I could catch a glimpse of Steve Kennedy. From my perspective, sadly, no. I can see what I believe is Seigo Saito in a camera boat, so I know I'm close.

Chapman back down for good

May 12, 2013

Brent Chapman came straight to the mouth of Corn Creek after coming back through the shoals.
