Returning to Cooter's Pond

May 9, 2013

We're almost back to the Cooter's Pond Landing and we saw Casey Scanlon fishing near the downtown ampitheatre. Timmy Horton was about a mile downriver from him. We stopped to chat with Jeremy Starks who reports he had five fish, but they're only going about 10 pounds.

McClelland sighting

May 9, 2013

A Mike McClelland sighting. He's fishing near an old train bridge that spans the Alabama River just outside of downtown Montgomery. We heard some reports earlier that he was catching some good fish. He's throwing a spinnerbait toward a flooded tree just offshore.   There a couple of horses feeding in a field behind him onshore. Looks like there are a couple of hosses in the livewell, too. He reports he has five fish that go about 15 pounds so far.

Elias and Schultz in close proximity

May 9, 2013

We found Paul Elias and Bernie Schultz fishing 50 feet apart not far from downtown Montgomery, maybe 10 minutes from here. Elias said he has about 13 pounds, and Schultz said he isn't faring as well. Elias said most of his action came earlier this morning, which seems to be the story on this part of the river. We're taking off again.
