Evers adds to his total

Sep 21, 2012

Bassmaster photographer Seigo Saito texted me a minute ago that Edwin Evers has boated his third bass of the day already. Evers, the leader on Day 1, caught one just under 2 pounds in a pocket by the launch site just minutes after takeoff.   He boated a 1-pounder at about 9 a.m. And a 2 1/2 a half-hour later, Seigo said. Evers is running pockets along the lakeshore. Whatever he's doing is working.

Howell has a fish

DeFoe defying the Zona jinx

Sep 21, 2012

Even in a season as good as Ott DeFoe's had, he may have just put on the most impressive performance of his career - catching fish with Mark Zona in his boat. That just doesn't happen.   Defying the odds, DeFoe just weeded through four non-keepers to land another small keeper - all on consecutive casts with a crankbait.   There were plenty of witnesses. Possum Creek continues to pile up with spectators boats anxious to watch the Ott DeFoe show.

Evers off to fast start

Note: Hank Weldon reports that Evers' Marshal accidentally entered "3" instead of "1" in BASSTrakk.

Reese misses a good one

Sep 21, 2012

We managed to find Skeet Reese tucked into a hidden slough near the launch at Eagle Creek State Park. He's fishing parallel to emerging vegetation with a white buzzbait and just missed a good keeper. He estimated its weight at around 3 pounds.   After pausing to put on his rainsuit he went back to work, making a second tour along the banks on both sides of the cove.   Intermittent rains are predicted throughout the day. Maybe the cloud cover will improve the bite today.

Scroggins trying new places

A flash of yellow drew us to the back of a cove, where we found Terry Scroggins raking the bank with a topwater and a square bill crankbait.

Ott on the board quickly

Sep 21, 2012

Ott DeFoe has motored into the back of Possum Creek, where he started yesterday, and got on the scoreboard a lot quicker than he did on Day One.

Déjà vu with Evers, DeFoe

Sep 21, 2012

The second annual Toyota Trucks All-Star Week is shaping up a lot like the first one ended, with Oklahoma’s Edwin Evers and Tennessee’s Ott DeFoe sitting atop the leaderboard.
