Tell us the story of your Lunker Club catch: It was the third cast of the day, and I was throwing a Northland Mimic Minnow when I thought I was hung on a stump, so instead of setting the hook I popped it in a quick motion.
She just must have swallowed the swimbait because the reel started ripping off drag like crazy! It took me about 7-10 minutes to get her in the boat because we were in the trees and stumps, but it was worth it.

I couldn't have done it without the help of my longtime fishing partner and uncle, Luther Leach.

What do you like most about being a BASS member?: The friendly articles, ways to save money, and everything else in it.

Any successful tips/technique/lure you can share with us?: Never give up when the fishing is hard; let the fish come to you. What I mean by that is that when you find the bait they like, the fish will keep coming back for more.

I have caught more fish on marked-down and cheaper baits of all kinds than on any of my high-dollar tackle. The best lure I have, and my favorite, is a Wally Marshall crappie crankbait that is watermelon shad. I know it's made for crappie, but these lures are bass-size crankbaits. I have caught more bass on this one lure in the past 2 1/2 years than on any other piece of tackle I own.

I used to take fishing for granted — like all of us do at some point in time — but after becoming disabled in 2007 because of multiple spinal fusions and severe chronic pain, it is something that is therapeutic to me. I can't do it all the time because of my back, but when I feel like it you will see me and my uncle on the water.

One day it is my dream and hope to own a boat that is friendly for me to use, that way I won't always have to rely on someone to take me and my daughter fishing.

Just remember when things seem down and out, there's always hope, and the fish of a lifetime could be just around the corner.
