Randy Howell's busy week

2014 Bassmaster Classic champion Randy Howell works hard every week, but there is one week more special to him than the other 51 weeks of the year- the annual King’s Home Kampfire for the King. “This year we raised over $138,500, and that will make a difference in many lives,” said Howell. In addition to the 5K race, fishing derby, and other events, Randy gives away his boat each year. The winner of the fourth annual boat giveaway was Larry Wilson of Alabama.

Randy spoke for over an hour to over 150 HS anglers a few nights before they Kampfire.

Fisherman’s Thumb was also on hand and every HS angler left with a well protected thumb.

All in all Randy spent an hour signing autographs, answering questions, and posing for photos with the next generation of B.A.S.S. anglers.

The Kampfire for the King event started with an early morning 5k Run Away From Domestic Violence run.

Elite Series Angler Aaron Martens and his wife Lesley finished 1st and 2nd in the 5k run.

Randy’s Fishing Rodeo was held the morning of the drawing. Thanks to Daiwa, Mark’s Oudoors, and all the high school teams for making it another successful day on the water for young anglers.

For this kid the fish may not be huge, but the opportunity to fish and get a photo with the Classic champion is.

Along with fishing there were jump houses, bands, hay rides, horseback riding, food vendors, crafts, and much more for everyone to enjoy at the Annual Kampfire for the King.

Following the event Randy found time to take Adams Rogers of Merrill Lynch out for a quick fishing trip at White Oaks Whitetails Lodge. Adams donates his time and services to be the “official auditing” firm for the ticket process of the boat giveaway.
