B.A.S.S. emcee Dave Mercer gives us a weather update live from the ramp on the Mississippi River in La Crosse.
Officially, the severe Thunderstorm watch continues until 10 o'clock this morning. There have been reports of dime and quarter-size hail in some areas locally. We have not seen that at Veterans Freedom Park, the tournament launch site. However, we have seen plenty of wind. Of the four flags that spell B.A.S.S. atop the tournament trailer, only one remains, which happens to be the final S. The rain has slowed down a bit, but a giant bolt of lightning just ripped across the sky.
I'm still sitting in my car at the ramp waiting for the storm to let up. It shows no signs of doing so. We've got strong winds and driving rain.
A few of us hunkered down in this trailer. Just talked to Steve Wright. He can see our trailer from his vantage point and says we're down to one flag. Winds are really picking up.
