Lane just upgraded about 1 pound. He caught one pushing three, allowing him to cull out one of his dinks. A couple more like that and he will be pushing 20.
Keith Combs, Todd Faircloth, Alton Jones, Terry Scroggins and J Todd Tucker finished in the Top 12 of both previous Elite events on the St. Johns. After Day 2, only Tucker has been eliminated from competition (52nd). Combs and Jones are 7th and 8th, respectively. Faircloth is 20th and Scroggins is 50th.

Mark Davis is working an area as a local angler motors through and located a fish next to Davis. He staked the fish. They began to work it over and caught the 3 1/2-pound fish next to Davis. Davis moved on after they landed the fish. I will have the fish catch in my gallery later today.

Big fish have a way of being big-eyed. But no one compares to the old timer sitting nearby Chris Lane. He told us Lane was in the right area because he had caught 15 there this morning including a 12-pounder he was taking back to weigh. I asked to see it, and he ceremoniously lifted a 5-pounder from his well. To his credit, it might be a 6, but it's got a long way to go to be 12.
