Found Jacob Wheeler. He was telling us he caught two of his biggest fish over 8 and 7 on back to back casts. He has well over 20lb in his livewell.
Russ Lane just asked, "Kriet, you ever been to Nickajack?" Kriet replied. "That ain't funny." KVD said. "I hear they are biting down there." Kriet. "That's not even funny. I thought we were teammates. " Good natured. But it's obvious all three know Kriet may need another big one to make the cut.
Good upgrade for Casey Ashley. He is sitting with about 14 pounds in the well. Photo by Marshal Tyler Faulkner
Jeff Kriet is sweating a little right now. He has around 16 pounds today and feels like he needs another big one to make the 50 cut. He believes if you make the 50 cut you have a shot at the 12 cut. While I'm typing Jeff lands a small spotted bass. KVD yells over to him, "Kriet this isn't a crappie fishing tournament." The fun continues.
Heading back to the launch I ran into the only angler fishing the northern half of the lake. Actually, Rick Clunn didn't even burn a gallon of gas before he started fishing. He's focusing on shallow cover in the creek leading from the launch to the main river channel. Not sure if he has any keepers, but he's getting an extra two hours of fishing time by staying here.
