All the wires are hooked up and it's time to test the connections. Yes, there's rehearsal for Bassmaster LIVE. Co-hosts Tommy Sanders and Mark Zona are in the Bassmaster studio in Little Rock, Ark., ready to break down the Delta. Producer MIke McKinnis said being in the studio will give the poduction a slicker look, as the editors will have access to all their tools, maps, graphics, etc. "It will look a lot more like the show," he said.
See the Elites launch on Day 2 of the Bassmaster Elite at Sacramento River.
We're trailering down now to launch a little closer to the action. I'm pretty sure we're headed south, mostly. This Delta system has us so disoriented I'm not sure which way is up anymore. Camera boat driver John Maes ran us around yesterday while we shot pictures and blogged. After shooting a couple guys and realized we were bumping into fellow photographer James Overstreet, it was time to go on a little run to find other anglers.
Here's the definition of a serious drought: When you bring a Bassmaster Elite Series event to your state and it doesn't rain.
The Anglers are making their way on the long trek down the Sacramento River to get to the California Delta. The long trip certainly messes with the gameplan of some anglers, but with almost everyone making the run its fair for everyone, so to say. Mike McClelland is one angler who is almost down to his area to start fishing. Nate Wellman and others aren't far behind either. First fish catch should be on its way very soon.
The trip to this week’s Sacramento River Elite event serves as a reminder of what fellow Elite Anglers who live out here must endure.

I know there's a fishing tournament going on, and we'll get back to that in a minute. But while we're waiting for the anglers to make their 90-minute run down the Sacramento River, check out this dude. This is a river otter Shaye Baker and I saw on Day 1 while we were following Brent Ehrler. He came out from behind a rock and cleaned his face off before jumping in the water and swimming up the shoreline.
