The college anglers compete for their last spots in the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship.
I take back everything I just said. Well not everything but most of it. As we were headed upriver, the water started going the other way. The current that anglers have been begging for is headed straight there way and with 4 hours to go, there's a lot of time left for the big ones to bite.
Young Harris is unofficially up to 12 pounds now. If I were a betting man I'd say they just qualified for the National Championship, as long as they make that weight official at 2:30. The weights are definitely down this morning as anglers feel the hurt of over crowding and lack of generation. Without the water moving these fish suspend around the ledges and they're very, very hard to catch.
We're unable to find Auburn. Georgia Southern and Young Harris shared to start the morning. Young Harris left long ago, but Georgia Southern was still grinding away. So far they managed only "two dinks". "They need to turn the water on," yelled Parker. Hate to tell you, but it's going to be a while before that happens.
Word from the water puts young Harris at about 10 pounds. This derby is still wide open. Last update from UNA had them at one 3-pounder, Bethel's Hardy and Lawrence with 0, Auburn with 3 "good ones". We're looking for Auburn now.
