Final Day with Dean Rojas

Feb 22, 2015

See how Dean Rojas spent the final morning of the GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by GoPro.

Storybook endings haven't always worked out

Feb 22, 2015

Casey Ashley winning the Classic right here in his own backyard would be a great story, for sure. But Classic history says those great stories don't always come to fruition just because a lot of folks want them to.   In 1997, a little-known angler named Dalton Bobo quit his job to fish the Classic on Logan Martin Lake in his home state because he was out of vacation time and his employer refused to allow him a leave of absence.

Powroznik looking for a kicker

Feb 22, 2015

Powroznik finally caught a fish from this deep spot, but after working with his cull floats it didn't help him. He said it was 2 1/4 and his smallest was 2 1/2. He said he has 19 or 20 in the live well. A 5 would give him a huge boost.

Powroznik's spectacular morning

Here are a few screenshots from Jacob Powroznik's GoPro this morning. These are not actual hi-resolution GoPro photos, since Powroznik's camera was set to video mode, but they do give us a glimpse into the spectacular morning that Powroznik had.   Check back soon for video from Powroznik's morning.

Bowman's Hello Kitty tape

Feb 22, 2015

It is starting to rain so Steve Bowman needs to protect his camera gear with a trash bag and duct tape. He sent my wife Hanna to the store last night to get the tape. She wanted to get him something manly like camo, stars and stripes or regular old silver/gray...but he insisted on this pink Hello Kitty tape.

Things are getting interesting

Feb 22, 2015

Bobby Lane just caught two fish pretty quick and now BASSTrakk says he is in 2nd place with over 16 pounds.   Stay tuned this is getting interesting.

Rojas' best spot

Feb 22, 2015

Dean Rojas has moved back to the spot that produced his best fish earlier today. He still looking for his fifth fish, and what better place to find it than the spot that gave up a 4-pounder.   We figured he would come back here at some point today, and honestly thought he'd be back here sooner.   Rojas not only needs a fifth fish to round out out his limit, but also another quality bite to help him climb the leaderboard. If not, he needs a couple in the three pound range that will allow him to cull.

A variety of baits for J-Proz

Feb 22, 2015

Powroznik hasn't caught one yet off of his offshore spot, but he may be about to do so. Gulls are diving on bait around him. He continues to try a variety of baits, mostly soft plastics
